In 2008, Alicia and David were both selected by their individual high schools as representatives to attend the Hugh O’Brian Youth (HOBY) Leadership Seminar in Charleston, SC. There, they were placed into the same small group, the M&M’s. When walking to one of the sessions, Alicia tripped over a tree stump and David made fun of her for it. This ignited a friendship that would last over the course of the weekend and then well throughout the remainder of high school and college. Alicia eventually went to the College of Charleston, and David to the University of South Carolina, where they each graduated in 2014. David was immediately offered a job working at Boeing, and he moved to Charleston to accept the position. After running into each other randomly on several occasions, Alicia accepted a position that put her at Boeing as well. The two picked up their friendship immediately and the rest is history.
